Longing for Summer

Snow flurries and up to 50 mile per hour winds today are making me long for summer. Seeing flowers, smelling fresh cut lawn, and just basking in the sun sounds really good. So, it's only January......I'll have to dream on paper.

I made a card using Too Sweet Kitty from Meljens Designs, one of my favorite digi companies.
I printed him on white cryogen cardstock and colored the cute image in with my Copic markers.

I then layered on some lime green cardstock, cut a couple of leafy branches with my Martha Stewart Punch, and layered it all together on some solid pink cardstock along with some pink plaid decorated paper. I finished off with a couple of flowers from Spare Parts.

Copic Recipe:
Kitty - N0, N1, N2, N3, N4, N5  R81
Pink Flowers -  RV04  Y38
Bell on Kitty - Y28
Grass - YG21, YG03
My sky was sponged with a Blue Vivid pad.

I just love these pink flowers from Spare Parts. They are actually brads. I have just ordered 3 more sets!

I'm entering my card in these challenges:
Dragonfly Dreams - Thoughts of Summer (green grass, flowers, blue sky)
Words2ScrapBy - Favorite Things (use something mentioned in the song My Favorite Things- I used Whiskers on Kittens" as my inspiration.

I'm also showing my card at the Outlawz Color Challenge- you get to pick your theme and two colors besides pink from the inspiration photo. Such fun!!

HAVE A CRAFTY DAY!!

New Sketch Challenge at the Outlawz January 15, 2014

Hey, crafty peeps!
There is a new Sketch Challenge just posted at the Outlawz!

Our sponsor all month is the wonderful Encino Stamps! The January winner will receive 3 digis of their choice!

I love the sketch we have this week! Here it is!

All of the Design Team (Sandra, Pat, Cindy, and myself) used Carl the Chameleon from Encino Stamps for the focal image. I absolutely love this cute image. I could use it over and over. Here is my card, but you really need to go to the challenge page and see how the other DT gals were inspired to use the cute Carl Chameleon. It is so fun to see what others do with the same image!

My son had a chameleon when he lived at home. It was a pretty green most of the time and occasionally changed color to a dull yellowish brown --- a little bit unremarkable, so I decided to make my chameleon a fun one, using rainbow colors. I used Copic markers to make my rainbow colors. The blue buttons are actually punched from paper with my new button punch from EK Success. Here are my Copic colors for this little guy.  B12   V15  RV55  YR16  Y17  G02

FYI, in case you ever wanted to know stuff about chameleons, here is a little bit of information I thought was interesting.

There are approximately 160 species of chameleons which are part of the lizard family and they are found in a range of colors, including pink, blue, red, orange, turquoise, yellow, and green.
Some species can change color and they are great climbers and hunters and are found in warm habitats and are often kept as household pets.
Typically, chameleons kept as pets are 3 to 20 inches in length and usually are hues of green, brown, grays and live less than five years.
Chameleons eyes move independently from each other. This gives them a full 360-degree range of vision around their bodies which helps them catch their prey. The chameleon has a long tongue and eats primarily insects.
Chameleons change color sometimes as a social function (attracting females) and sometimes as a reaction to temperature in an attempt to  maintain their body temperature in heat or cold. they also change color to camouflage themselves from predators or to attempt to scare or intimidate other chameleons, snakes, or birds when they feel threatened.

Well now you know more about chameleons than you ever wanted to know! Information from Wikipedia

I am entering my card in the
Creative Fingers Challenge - Buttons

Hope you are enjoying your week!

Happy New Year! Throw the Streamers, Toss the Confetti, and Beat the Drum!

So January is almost half gone....I can't believe how fast the time goes.

Over at the Simply Challenged Challenges, the theme for January is New Year - Anything New Year's related, so I made a card using a Simply Betty stamp called New Year Betty from my ever growing collection of Simply Betty Stamps. The image I used is from a BUNDLE that includes a huge collection of digis and sentiments. And there are so many wonderful images at the store site, so please visit and shop!!

I am also coordinating this card with a sketch challenge at the Sketch and Stash Challenge which gives us a sketch and asks us to use something new or neglected from our Stash.  -- That is pretty easy for me because I have lots from both of those categories.  For my new/neglected items, I used a new paper doily set that is precut (how simple is that) from Martha Stewart, and a digi from Simply Betty Stamps called New Year Betty and an embossing folder from Darice which both of these I have had for quite some time and haven't gotten around to using.

And I am also entering my card in a brand new challenge called Creative Colors Challenge. I love brand new challenges-- very exciting!!  Directly below, you can see the color palette we are to use and as an added twist, we must use embossing. That is where my Darice embossing folder comes in handy! Another requirement is for the card to be decorated and not Clean and Simple. I hope mine fits the equation--I don't do heavily decorated cards that often but I have added some embellies. Here is our inspiration picture for the Creative Colors Challenge.

And here is the sketch for the Sketch and Stash Challenge

And here is my card! I colored the New Year Betty with my copic markers and have listed the ink colors below the card. She was fun to color!

Here is a closeup of the colored image!

Copics used:
Skin: E000, E00, E11
Hair: E53, E43, E44, E0000
Lips: R39
Eyes: E47, E44
Dress and Shoes: BG78, BG75
Shawl: BG53
Crown: R11
Floor: C1
Champagne: YR20 with Spica Clear Glitter Pen

Once again, the challenges I am entering are:
Simply Challenged Challenges - New Year's theme
Creative Colors Challenge - color inspiration, embossing, no CAS
Sketch and Stash Challenge - sketch and new or neglected stash

I'm also posting in the Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenge for fun - theme is Hello or Goodbye, so I guess it is Hello to the New Year!

Have a wonderful week coming up!
