Month-long Birthday Celebration Coming to a Close Tonight

In case you didn't know, Simply Betty Stamps is having its third birthday and all month long in June, there have been challenges going on for some awesome prizes. The challenges close in about an hour....Midnight CST and 10 PM  PST. So I am just getting this card in under the wire.

This daily challenge was  to use a Valentine's theme and to use the colors, Red, White, Pink, Black, and Turquoise. Skin and hair tones are allowed but the main colors must be the ones mentioned above. And the image must be an SBS image which I have done using "Betty in Wonderland" and colored with my copic markers. You can see all the challenges over at the Simply B Stamps Blog.

Here is my Valentine's card with the SBS digi sentiment, "Hiya Sweet Cheeks".
Have a great week!

Easy as 1-2-3 Challenge CDAC

Here is the post I said I would have today! My card is for the CDAC Easy as 1-2-3 Challenge. My card features  1 sentiment, two decorated papers, and 3 embellishments (the flowers) and it features a digi image and digi sentiment from Doodle Dragon Studio. This completes the April thru June Challenge for CDAC. Can't wait for the next ones coming up!

Have a great weekend!

Singing like a Wren!

To me, the prettiest sounding songbird is the Wren. They are tiny but have a mighty voice and a very sweet sounding pitch. I made the card below for the Outlawz Color Challenge. The colors this week are Red Tomato, Lucky Green, and Ala Mode White! The Jazzy June twist is 'Make it Musical'. So I have used those colors and rubber stamped my image of a wren by PSX which along with the sentiment by House Mouse Designs is my "musical" theme. I know it is a little bit of a stretch, but singing birds do make music, don't ya think?
Anyway..................
Here's my card. I colored with copic markers.

Happy Friday!

CDAC Second Quarter Challenge Coming to an End

Over at Crafters Digital Art Center, there is a new challenge every three months for several different challenges. For example, there is an Inspiration Challenge (which is my focus here on this post),  an Easy as 1-2-3 Challenge, an Anything Goes Challenge, and a Seasonal Challenge. Not to mention the Progressive Freebie Challenges.

Anyway, from April 1 to June 30, we are given the options of entering these challenges. I have completed the Progressive Freebie Challenge, the Seasonal Challenge and the Anything Goes Challenge. I have made my cards for the remaining two and will post the Inspiration Challenge here in this post and tomorrow's post will have the Easy as 1-2-3 Challenge. If I've totally lost you, hop on over to the CDAC website and learn all about it. I love having three months to complete these. As you see, I am right down to the wire!

With the Inspiration Challenge, we were given a picture with some key colors and with those colors as our inspiration, we need to make a card using a digital image.  Here is the inspiration picture.

For my card I chose to use a digi image named Malt Dudley that is from Doodle Dragon Studio. Hope you like my card!

Have a great Friday and a great weekend!

Summer is here!

Yes, it is definitely here! Hot, humid, rainy!

But on a brighter note, Summer the fairy (created by Simply Betty Stamps) is also here and I have made a card with her for the Simply Betty Stamps Fanpage Challenge. I colored her with copic markers and then went over the dress and wings with my embossing pen and covered the area with Spellbinder embossing powder for some glitzy shine before using my heat tool to emboss. The shine really brightened up my card. The challenge was to use Summer the fairy on a background that was inked, stenciled, or drawn. I used some watercolor paints to make some swirly designs and then a Vivid ink pad in Pink to add some tiny dots and then a Marvy pad in Green to add some confetti dots.
Thanks Betty for the cute Summer Fairy digi. It was free to those wanting to participate in this challenge. I think I will be making a lot of cards with her. She is beautifully drawn and a joy to color!

I am also entering this card in the CDAC Anything Goes Challenge!

Hope you are enjoying your summer!

Outlawz Creative Freebie Challene and a Twisted Thursday

This rooster card does double duty this week. I am entering it in the Twisted Thursday Challenge because the theme is "Distressed" and I'm also entering it in the Outlawz Creative Freebie Challenge because the rooster image is a freebie given to us by Sandi Huggett. I had fun coloring the rooster and used a figurine for my color inspiration.

Have a nice day!

Outlawz Creative Freebie Challenge

We have had a couple of weeks to make some creations with a couple of free digi stamps over at the Outlawz.  The first image is a butterfly and rose and the artist is Anne Fenton. I colored with copic markers and layered and made a pretty bow. Thanks Anne for the great image. I really enjoyed coloring it up!

Have a great week!

Make it for Baby

This week's Color Challenge at the Outlawz is "Make it for Baby" using Pastel Blue, Pastel Pink, and Pastel Yellow!  I colored an image by Mo's Digital Pencil called Baby Fairy Flora and I really like how she turned out. I gathered up my various colors of cut papers and started putting things together and this is how it turned out! I'm also entering this card in a brand new challenge group Through the Purple Haze!  It's a closed group so you will need to ask to join if you are interested!

Have a great day!

Gerda's Giraffe

I was so excited that Gerda Steiner offered this cute little giraffe as a free digi to those that asked for it. Of course I asked for it. I love giraffes this one is especially cute. Thanks Gerda for such a  sweet image.

I used copics and a spica marker to color the giraffe. I have some layers of different papers because that is the twist on this weeks Color Challenge at the Outlawz.  The colors are Apricot, Dusky Pink, and Soft Cream with a 3-layer twist.

I will also be putting my card on Gerda's facebook page to show my appreciation to her for sending me her cute image.

Hope you think my card is cute!

Have a great week!

Believe, Dream, Grow

It's been a few days since I last posted. I've been doing some yardwork in between rain showers. And had my awesome grandkids for an overnite stay. That was super fun.

I made a card for the Outlawz Sketch Challenge. Hop on over there and see what the Design Team has cooked up for the sketch of the week. This card is more inspirational but could also be used as a graduation card although for the first time in many years, I didn't have any graduations to go to. Must be a sign of my old age, haha!
Hope you like my card. Butterfly and Believe, Dream, Grow are all by Gina K Designs.

Enjoy your weekend!

Creative Freebie Challenge for June 2-15

Hope everyone stays safe for the severe weather that is heading from Iowa all the way to the East Coast. We are certainly having some strange weather this year.

Every couple of weeks, Anne and Sandi at the Outlawz gives us a new Creative Freebie Challenge. They supply the digi images and we get to have fun with them and make our own creation. This time it was a Birdbath by Sandi Huggett and Rapunzel from Anne Fenton. I used copic markers to color in the images and pretty patterned papers for the background layers. They were both pretty simple to make. I usually choose my papers first and then color accordingly but this time for both of them I colored first and then went searching for the right papers.

Thanks Sandi and Anne for the wonderful digis we got to play with!

That was the card I made using the digi by Anne and below is the one I made using the digi by Sandi.

Enjoy your Wednesday!

Cute little gecko

I remember when my son was little, he had a gecko. It wasn't very nice and would bite. But this cute little guy wouldn't hurt a fly.   Well, maybe if he was hungry!  I made this card for the Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenge which features animals this week.  My Hello senti is from Stampin Up!

Happy Tuesday!

Vintage

I don't usually make vintage type cards because I am more likely to make cheery simple cards. But the theme this week at the Outlawz Paper Ala Mode Challenge was to make something vintage. I just happened to have made a photocopy of an original portrait of my paternal grandmother with her siblings. (My grandma is the one in the upper right).

So I decided to have a go at it. I had made a vintage card earlier this month that turned out okay so maybe I am getting in some much needed practice.

Here is my card using my picture and some stickers and a few word stamps by Gina K Designs.

Have good week!

Double Dippin'

Double dippin' is not usually acceptable, ........however............if we're talking about two scoops of ice cream, well then, that is a different story altogether. My card here features a digi image from Jane's Doodles that is two luscious scoops of ice cream. Yum! This card is for the Outlawz Copic Pro/marker Challenge with the theme..... you guessed it!  Ice Cream! Here's my card along with the inside of the card to show my computer generated sentis.
Kind of makes you want an ice cream cone, doesn't it?

Enjoy your day!

I Scream, You Scream, We all scream for ice cream!

How many of us remembering that little diddy that we used to sing as a kid? Now, I am saying it to my grandkids!! I had thoughts of ice cream from a different Outlawz Challenge when I saw the Outlawz Sketch Challenge this week! So for my card that I entering this week I used an ice cream rubber stamp from Wood Cellar Graphics.
Here is the sketch and here is my card.

Time for a color challenge

Yes, it is time for a color challenge at the Outlawz! We are to add some bling to these colors:  Loyal Blue,  Inviting Ivory and Adventure Orange.  I colored a stamped image from Gina K Designs with my copic markers and then just started layering the colors. Here is my card

June weddings

June is a very popular wedding month! I was married in June myself. It will be 38 years on the 21st. My how time flies!
But anyway, the challenge over at the Outlawz Monday Greeting Card Challenge was to make a wedding or anniversary card using silver and gold. So I made a wedding card that I will use at a wedding I am going to on the 29th of this month.
I stamped an Outlines Company wedding cake image on my card and heat embossed it in silver. I colored in some light pastels and mounted on a light aqua/blue cardstock and then mounted again on a silver metallic cardstock. I bordered the image with some gold metallic strips and added a small amount of bling around my sentiment.
Hope you like my card....it turned out completely different than the vision in my head when I started. Funny how that happens.

Today is officially Friday.....have a great weekend!

For you.....

A new challenge over at the Outlawz Saturday Paper Ala Mode Challenge is going on right now. The theme is tags or labels. I made a gift tag using Tim Holtz Distress Inks and stamped a large image by Hero Arts on my tag with black embossing ink. I then heat embossed the design and added a little sentiment Gift for You. I have never made a tag before but I like how it turned out.
Thanks for looking!
Darcy

Birthday Boy

I made this card for the Color Me Creative Challenge (just under the deadline). We were to use the color orange when coloring our image.
Here's my card featuring a digi by Paper Nest called Birthday Owen. I colored the image with copic markers.

Merry Christmas in June?????

Ah, no, not really thinkin' Christmas already. Seems like we just had it. But over at the Outlawz Friday Copic Promarker Challenge, it is a different story. The theme for this week's challenge is Anything Goes or Make It Christmas. So I went for the Christmas theme! Why not!
My image is a digi byAnne Fenton at Anne's Digital Art. I did traditional red and green, which I usually don't, but once again, Why Not?? Be sure and stop by the Outlawz and see what the Design Team cooked up for inspiration.

Have a great day!

Girly girl card

This week over at the Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenge, the theme is "girly girl". So I made a card using a cute little mermaid digi from Stamping Shack. I colored her with my copic markers and used a new Spellbinders die to cut my image out. I then threaded some ribbon through the slots at the top and a shiny mikuhiki cord in an aqua color. I finished off with some pink rhinestone gems and that was it! My girly girl card. For more girly girly cards, head over to the Outlawz and see what everyone else came up with.
Have a great Wednesday!
